YOUR ROLE

If you are an active, energetic, creative professional, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, then the role of the English Language Instructor in Armavir and Aragatsotn regions (Shenik, Arteni) at COAF (Children of Armenia Fund) is a perfect fit for you. You will facilitate the intellectual and social development of children in rural areas of Armenia. More specifically:

Content Creation (50%)

  • Follow a complete COAF English Program curriculum.
  • Organize learning materials and resources needed for an effective educational environment.
  • Select appropriate American English materials that meet the program objectives.
  • Develop a course syllabus that clearly outlines the topics of the classes and the expectations of the students.
  • Develop and implement quality lesson plans according to the Access Program objectives.
  • Use a variety of activities and instructional methods to motivate and stimulate children’s abilities.
  • Contribute to the development of the program’s e-learning component.
  • Design evaluation materials to properly assess students’ progress in accordance with the benchmarks established at the start of the program.

Instruction (50%)

  • Hold classes and conduct enhancement activities, and intensive sessions in accordance with the schedule and curriculum approved by COAF.
  • Track children’s performance and attendance to ensure they are mastering the skills on a regular basis according to COAF English Program assessment plan.
  • Monitor children’s interactions and nurture cooperation and sharing.
  • Ensure student portfolios are filed, accessible, and frequently updated.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the students during planned classes and activities.
  • Submit progress reports according to the schedule established by COAF.
  • Seek to improve methodical and pedagogical skills through participation in seminars, lessons of visiting experienced colleagues, as well as self-education.

You will work by an employment contract with the immediate supervision of the ELT Manager to ensure effective instruction. COAF English Program revolves around six core content learning areas that constitute the hallmark of the Curricula.

We are expecting more and require that:

YOU KNOW (knowledge)

  • Excellent spoken and written English, since you have at least three years of teaching experience and hold an ELT qualification – PhD, MA, BA.
  • U.S. and Armenian society and culture.
  • Basic skills of G-suite (Google workspace).

YOU CAN (skills)

  • Organize and participate in enhancement and out-of-class activities.
  • Teach English with great motivation and dedication to 8-11 graders.
  • Attend professional development and Access Program events organized by the U.S. Embassy and COAF.

WE ARE

Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that employs community-led approaches aimed at improving the quality of life in rural Armenia, with a particular focus on children and youth. COAF’s target development areas are education, health, social and economic development. COAF launched its programs in 2004, starting in one village and expanding to 64 villages in Armavir, Aragatsotn, Lori, Gegharkunik, Shirak, and Tavush regions.

Since 2015, COAF has developed and started implementing SMART Initiatives. COAF SMART is designed to advance a generation across the rural world through education that will benefit individuals, societies, and the environment. COAF SMART is an exemplary model of development and will be replicated in other regions and communities throughout Armenia. The first COAF SMART Center was inaugurated on May 27, 2018 near the village of Debet, Lori Region.
