Network support engineer Mid/Mid+ (NOC)

About us:

An international hosting and infrastructure provider is looking for a Network Support Engineer (NOC) to join our team and help maintain a reliable global network infrastructure while providing technical support to our customers. You will troubleshoot complex networking issues, collaborate with internal teams and external providers, and participate in the daily operation of our production network.

This position requires good analytical skills, hands-on networking experience, and the ability to communicate with customers in English via a ticketing system.

Job responsibilities

• Provide technical support to company customers through the ticketing system.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues.
• Communicate with customers in both English and Russian.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams to resolve incidents and customer requests.
• Interact with Internet Service Providers and upstream carriers.
• Work with Regional Internet Registries (RIPE NCC, ARIN).
• Ensure stable operation of the company's network infrastructure.
• Analyze the network patterns and search for peering possibilities to lower costs and improve latency
• Administer and maintain network equipment:
  1. software upgrades;
  2. configuration;
  3. backups;
  4. logging;
  5. inventory management.
• Monitor network devices and services.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and network failures.
• Maintain accurate network documentation (netbox)

Required qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a similar networking role.
• Experience communicating with customers in English (using translation tools or AI assistants is perfectly acceptable).
• Strong troubleshooting skills using networking tools such as:
  1. ping
  2. traceroute
  3. MTR
  4. tcpdump
  5. iperf
  6. Wireshark
• Solid understanding of Layer 2 networking technologies:
  1. STP / MSTP
  2. VLAN
  3. LACP
  4. Port Security
  5. AAA
  6. Syslog
  7. VXLAN
• Hands-on experience with enterprise networking equipment from at least several of the following vendors:
  1. Cisco
  2. Juniper
  3. Arista
  4. Huawei
• Experience with network monitoring systems such as:
  1. Zabbix
  2. Cacti
  3. MRTG
  4. LibreNMS
  5. PRTG
  6. or similar.

Nice to Have

• Experience with routing and high availability technologies:
  1. BGP
  2. OSPF
  3. BFD
  4. MLAG
  5. VSS
  6. VRRP
  7. IPsec VPN
• Experience with Linux/*nix systems.
• Automation skills using Bash, Python, or Ansible.
• CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking knowledge.
• Experience working with data center infrastructure.
• Familiarity with IPv6 deployment and troubleshooting.
• Basic knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Proxmox, KVM, etc.).
• DDoS protection analyze using Andrisoft wanguard
