Business Model Innovation Consultant
Near East Foundation UK (NEF UK) and our co-implementer the Women’s Development Resource Center Foundation (WDRC) have begun implementation of an EU-funded, two year project in Armenia, beginning in December 2017, titled “EU4Women: Economic Empowerment through Social Enterprise”. The Overall Objective of the project is to strengthen the sustainability and increase the resources of Armenian civil society organisations (CSOs) involved in advocacy work and programmes on gender equality and women’s economic empowerment. To this end, the specific objective is to reinforce and diversify CSO financial resources by improving their business models and social enterprise activities. Output 1 improves CSO stewardship and capacity in business model innovation to advance their advocacy and programmes in support of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment; Output 2 develops or upgrades their social enterprise activities in selected business sectors; and Output 3 ensures that communication and visibility achieve targets in promoting EU-Armenia cooperation and EU support to Armenia.
In support of Outputs 1 and 2, the business model innovation work will help 12 local CSOs rethink their operational and financing models around a clear mission and value proposition, as well as realign their resources, processes and revenue formula with this improved value proposition. It helps CSOs proactively navigate trends and critical drivers that will impact their organisation's future and augment transparency and accountability systems. Further, it helps them develop and strengthen innovative non-institutional fundraising activities through partnerships with market and peer actors. 12 CSOs have been pre-selected to participate in the process. All participant CSOs have either a promising social enterprise idea or operate an existing social enterprise that requires upgrade.
